BCPSA 24 MARJORIE GRIFFIN COHEN COMPETITION

The Marjorie Griffin Cohen Prize recognizes the two best papers presented to the Annual General Meeting of the BCPSA in the current year. Named to honour a leading BC essayist, activist, and public intellectual, this new competition reflects our commitment to provide venues to present, recognize, and reward critical scholarship.

The eligibility condition is that the presenter must submit and present a paper at the BCPSA Annual General Meeting. A revised version of that paper must be submitted to the President of the BCPSA within three weeks after the AGM.

The submission date for revised papers is May 24, 2024.Papers should be submitted to xxxx.xxxxx.

2024 STUDENT ESSAY COMPETITIONS

Call for Nominations

STUDENT ESSAY PRIZES

Up to four prizes are awarded each year in the following three categories:

Mike Meade Prize

The Mike Mead Prize recognizes the best lower division (first and second year) undergraduate paper. Up to two Mike Meade Prizes are awarded each year.

Norman Ruff Prize

The Norman Ruff Prize recognizes the best upper division (third and fourth year) undergraduate paper.

BA Honours Paper Prize

This prize recognizes the best honours paper.

Eligibility and Nomination Process

These contests are open to all students enrolled in BC colleges and universities that participate in the BCPSA. Papers may cover any sub-field of political science but must be handed in during the last year: more specifically, between the Summer 2022 term and the end of the 2024 Spring term.

Departments are responsible for nominating papers. Each Department can nominate two papers for the Mike Meade Prize and no more than one paper for each of the two upper-level undergraduate prizes. Please send papers as attachments to xxxxx xxxxx@viu.ca by April xx, 2024. The winners will be announced at the 2024 BCPSA Annual General Meeting.
